Crispy Fried Embutido, considered a fiesta favorite, is ground pork rolled around a filling of hotdogs and hard-boiled eggs which was steamed and then deep fried.

What is Embutido?
Embutido is ground pork rolled around boiled eggs and hotdogs and steamed. Personally, I prefer my embutido fried and crispy. A perfect companion for my pandesal during breakfast.
Traditionally, embutido is placed inside pig intestines to hold its form while steaming. But the use of aluminum foil to hold its form also works well as you will see in this recipe.
What do I need to make Crispy Embutido?
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup diced Carrot
- 1/3 cup diced Red Bell Pepper
- 1 cup Bread Crumbs
- 1/3 cup minced Onion
- 1 tablespoon minced Garlic
- 1/4 cup Sweet Pickle Relish
- 1 oz Raisins
- 6 oz evaporated milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 Hotdogs
- Cheese
- 2 Boiled eggs

- Saran wrap
- Aluminum foil
- Steamer
How to make Crispy Fried Embutido
- In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the ground pork, diced vegetables, seasoning, bread crumbs and raw egg.

Once done, chill the bowl in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This will make it easier to roll the meat mixture into shape.
Prepare 3 pieces of aluminum foil about 10 inches long. Apply a little oil to prevent the meat mixture from sticking to it.

Take about a third of the meat mixture and spread it evenly in the middle of the foil allowing about 3 inches of space on all sides.
Carefully lay the sliced hotdogs, cheese, and hard-boiled eggs right in the centerline of the flattened meat.

Roll the foil so that the meat mixture wraps around the hotdogs and eggs in the center. Secure the ends of the foil by giving it a gentle twist.

Steam the embutidos for 1 hour and allow them to cool.
Once ready, cover the embutido with beaten egg and dredge it with bread crumbs.

Heat up 2 cups of cooking oil and fry the embutido until golden brown.
